Right now the best gaming PC we found on Amazon for $1,000 or less is the iBUYPOWER Scale with an RTX 5050, 16GB of DDR5, and a 1TB SSD at $999.99. That's a solid 1080p machine, but it's less PC than $1,000 bought a year ago. If you can wait until Black Friday (November 27), hold out for an RTX 5060 system at or under $1,000. Those have already appeared at other retailers, and the RTX 5060 is the better long-term card. Skip any $900-plus PC with an RTX 3050.

Why $1,000 buys less this year
Memory and graphics card prices have climbed all year as AI data centers soak up chip supply. A 32GB DDR5 kit that cost around $100 in early 2025 was over $300 by February 2026, and most graphics cards now sell well above their launch prices. PC makers pass those costs on, so prebuilt prices have risen too.
The upside is that big PC makers buy parts in bulk on long-term contracts. That's why, for the first time in years, a prebuilt can cost about the same as, or less than, building the same PC yourself. PCWorld priced a comparable DIY build at close to $1,250 with tax back in February, before further price rises.
Buy now or wait for Black Friday?
Wait if you can. Prebuilt gaming PCs are one of the few categories expected to get real Black Friday discounts this year, with forecasts of 10 to 18% off mid-range systems. On October 30, Tom's Hardware spotted an ABS Cyclone Aqua with an RTX 5060 for $849 at Walmart, which shows what a good deal looks like.
Buy now if you need a PC before the holidays and the iBUYPOWER Scale is in stock at $1,000 or less. Don't expect prices to fall after the holidays: with memory costs still rising, early 2027 is more likely to be higher.
What to look for (and what to skip)
Graphics card first: an RTX 5060 or RTX 5050 is the minimum we'd buy at this price. Skip systems with an RTX 3050 or GTX 1660 at $900 or more. They're older cards that will struggle with new games, and we found several listed at close to $1,000.
16GB of RAM is fine for gaming today; DDR5 is better for future upgrades than DDR4. A 1TB SSD is the minimum, since modern games often take 100GB or more each.
Check the power supply. A named 80+ Bronze or Gold unit of 550 to 650 watts leaves room to upgrade the graphics card later. If the listing doesn't say, ask the seller or assume you'll need to replace it when you upgrade.
Prefer listings sold by Amazon or the PC maker. Third-party resellers sometimes list older or refurbished systems at new prices.

#1Best under $1,000 right now
iBUYPOWER Scale (Ryzen 5 8400F, RTX 5050, 16GB DDR5)
8.2Best for: 1080p gamers who need a complete PC now and want DDR5 and a modern platform
Check price on AmazonThis is the most balanced sub-$1,000 PC we found on Amazon. The Ryzen 5 8400F is a 6-core chip on AMD's current AM5 platform, which means you can drop in a faster Ryzen CPU later without replacing the motherboard. It's paired with 16GB of DDR5 and a 1TB NVMe SSD.
The RTX 5050 is Nvidia's entry-level current card. Expect smooth 1080p gaming at medium to high settings in most new games, with DLSS doing the heavy lifting in demanding ones. It isn't a 1440p card.
iBUYPOWER doesn't list the power supply, so check its wattage before planning a big graphics card upgrade.
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 8400F (6 cores) Graphics RTX 5050 8GB RAM 16GB DDR5-5200 Storage 1TB NVMe SSD Wi-Fi Yes (802.11ac) Amazon price (Oct 31) $999.99 What we like
- DDR5 memory on the AM5 platform, so future CPU upgrades are possible
- Sold by Amazon
- Keyboard and mouse included
- 4.4 stars on Amazon
Watch out for
- RTX 5050 is entry-level for new games
- Power supply isn't listed
- Right at the $1,000 limit
Verdict: A sensible 1080p PC with an upgrade path. Buy it if you can't wait for Black Friday.

#2Cheaper alternative, with caveats
ZOTAC MEK (Ryzen 5 5500, RTX 5050, 16GB DDR4)
7.2Best for: Buyers who want the same RTX 5050 for $100 less and can accept an older platform
Check price on AmazonThe ZOTAC MEK has the same RTX 5050 graphics card for $899.99. Where it saves money is the platform: the Ryzen 5 5500 and DDR4 memory are a generation older, with no CPU upgrade path beyond AM4 chips.
On the plus side, it lists a 650-watt 80+ Gold power supply, which is better than many prebuilts at this price and leaves room for a bigger graphics card later.
We'd be cautious about the low early rating from a small number of reviews. Buy from Amazon so returns are easy.
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (6 cores) Graphics RTX 5050 8GB RAM 16GB DDR4 Storage 1TB NVMe SSD Power supply 650W 80+ Gold Wi-Fi Wi-Fi 6E Amazon price (Oct 31) $899.99 What we like
- $100 less than the iBUYPOWER
- Named 650W 80+ Gold power supply
- Wi-Fi 6E
- Sold by Amazon
Watch out for
- Older AM4 platform and DDR4 memory
- Only 3.3 stars from 17 Amazon ratings
Verdict: Same gaming performance for less, but an older platform and a shaky early rating.
How we picked
We checked Amazon on October 31, 2026 for in-stock gaming desktops at $1,000 or less from established brands (Skytech, CyberPowerPC, iBUYPOWER, ABS, ZOTAC, Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer). We found no RTX 5060 system from those brands at that price, so we picked the two best RTX 5050 systems and left out RTX 3050 and older systems priced near $1,000. We'll update this guide with Black Friday deals as they appear.
